LED VMS Becomes Smarter Environmental conditions are usually key to the visibility of LED Variable Message Signs (VMS). The visibility of the LED VMS cannot be all the time adequate due to the change of the ambient brightness, such as day time and night time. In addition, the completeness of the message on VMS is critical since the occurrence of LED errors may bring severe traffic risks. This is why Macroblock’s LED drivers with dual mode are needed. The dual mode LED drivers provide both current adjustable and LED open/short detection modes. The current adjustable mode ensures that the LED brightness is adaptive to the ambient brightness change. And, the LED open/short detection mode can detect and report the LED errors in real time. Therefore, the completeness of the message can be monitored. By taking the advantages of Macroblock’s dual mode drivers, the customer successfully implemented the LED VMS for road signs in Europe.
